Rickey Joyner's story is deeply rooted in Omaha, where his educational journey began at Paul H. Pewitt High School. Outside of work, Rickey is drawn to the serenity of nature, with hunting and fishing being his go-to activities for relaxation and connection to the outdoors. Sam Guzman's story begins in Mt. Pleasant, TX, where a move in his 4th-grade year introduced him to the Harts Bluff School District, shaping his early education. This foundational experience led Sam and his wife, Stephanie, to choose Harts Bluff ISD for their four children, Jude, Jade, Jubilee, and Juno. Their eldest, Jude, is set to make history as part of Harts Bluff ISD Early College High School's first graduating class, earning both a high school diploma and an Associate's degree from North East Texas Community College. Following his school years, Sam served six years in the United States Air Force, working with both the A-10 Thunderbolt and the F-16 Fighter Jet as part of the 301st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. His post-military life saw him exploring new career paths through education at North East Texas Community College and Texas A&M Commerce and discovering a profound love for photography and missionary work. Through his travels to Africa and Guatemala, Sam combined his passion for photography with his dedication to serving others, capturing moments that tell powerful stories of community and faith. Sam's journey into photography culminated in the creation of Sam Guzman Photography, a successful business that has allowed him to photograph people and events worldwide, capturing the essence of human experience through his lens. In addition to his professional and philanthropic pursuits, Sam has served on the Harts Bluff ISD School Board for seven years, bringing a unique perspective and energy to the role. As one of the younger and first Latino board members, Sam embraces the diversity of experiences and backgrounds, believing in the power of education to answer life's fundamental questions. Sam champions Harts Bluff ISD as the ideal place for children to learn and grow.
I am a class of 1999 Harts Bluff graduate. After 8th grade I attended Chapel Hill through high school, followed by two years at Northeast Texas Community College. I finished my education at Texas A&M University in College Station and earned a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History with a minor in Geography.
I taught for three years at College Station ISD followed by three years at Chapel Hill ISD. I now share ownership of multiple businesses in and around Mount Pleasant with my wife, Dr. Brittany Senn, who serves as Treasurer for the Harts Bluff PTO.
I currently serve as Secretary for our local Rotary Club as well as President of the Mount Pleasant Youth Baseball Association. In addition, I am able to help serve our community through my involovement as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador as well as thorugh my roles on the City of Mount Pleasant’s Planning and Zoning and Board of Adjustment committees.
My wife and I have two children, Addison and Declan, who both attend Harts Bluff Elementary. We are a very active family, spending most of our free time at dance competitions and seim meets or on the baseball and soccer fields!
I am a member of the Harts Bluff Board of Trustees because I want to give back give back to the community. My time at Harts Bluff has played a very important role in my life and I want the same for my children and everyone in the community. I am here to help HBISD continue to give our students the best foundation for their future and the greatest opportunity for success.
Niki Huffman, a native of Mount Pleasant, Texas, is a proud graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Class of 2007. She went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies.
Currently, Niki serves as the Director of Community Relations and Development for Cypress Basin Hospice. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys working out, listening to podcasts, and traveling.
Niki is actively involved in her church and community. She is a member of Outpost Church and has served in various civic roles, including as a dedicated Rotarian and Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she is a former member of the Main Street Board. Her commitment to community service was recognized when she was named the 2023-2024 Rotarian of the Year.
Niki is passionate about serving on the school board, where she takes pride in representing a district that prioritizes students’ success. She believes in ensuring that students are not only prepared for future education and careers but are also equipped with the values to become kind, responsible individuals.
